On Thursday 6th December, Phoenix Academy will be hosting the official Hammersmith and Fulham, Jack Petchey Speak Out Regional Final.
Every participating school will be sending up to two Year 10 students to compete to be crowned the best public speaker in the borough, by impressing a panel of judges with their three-minute speech on any topic that they believe is important. That student will then be eligible to progress to the 2019 Grand Final, which will be held at the Cambridge Theatre in the West End next year.
Two of our truly outstanding Year 10 students will be participating; Kai, who will be giving a speech on tenacity, and Hagar, who will be giving a speech on sexism. As the host school, we will also be providing musical entertainment, with Selah (Year 7) singing and Krzysztof (Year 11) playing guitar.
There will be drinks and light refreshments provided from 6:00pm, with the competition beginning at 6:30pm, and an estimated finishing time of 8:30pm.
Good luck to all the students taking part!
