Phoenix ladies ready for business on International Women's Day
A number of young ladies from Phoenix Academy were involved in a Grow your own Business Project on International Women's Day to raise money for FLAME.
Phoenix Academy has a long-standing partnership with the London Sports Trust, which aims to improve opportunities and life chances through its programmes.
The Sixth Form ‘Grow Your Business’ business enterprise had its final test on Wednesday 28th March with a market stall set up to sell their products at the Lyric Square in Hammersmith. They created a range of natural beauty products that were based around produce from the farm, including lip balms, hand creams, soap, and bath products.
The day was a roaring success with the girls taking £203.80 and the girls’ professional and work ethic was praised by all concerned.
The whole course has been a roaring success with two market stalls totalling sales of £382 all from produce the girls have handmade.
The Sixth Form girls from Phoenix Academy have learnt numerous skills which include research, time management, design, marketing, budgets, communication and much more!
The project was one of many projects that young people can get involved in as part of the Raising Aspirations programme. A programme designed by Phoenix's sponsor, Future Academies, to enrich the curriculum, and develop cultural literacy and skills outside the classroom. To find out more, click here.
