On 31st January 2018, the year 10 GCSE music class attended a ‘Year 10 Music Day’ at the Royal Albert Hall hosted by the Tri-borough Music Hub. Joined by students from Fulham Cross Girls School and Grey Coats Hospital School, the trip provided students with the opportunity to develop their ensemble playing skills across a number of instruments whilst widening their knowledge and understanding of both the composition process and compositional techniques.
The day was led by a professional workshops leader and students also had the opportunity to work closely with professional musicians from the Royal Albert Experience who worked with our students to inspire them to continue to work hard on their instrumental practice.
On Tuesday 27th March, the Music Department hosted its second annual spring concert, Spring Sound. The concert, which showcased a selection of the best vocalist and instrumentalists from the Phoenix Academy Instrumental Lesson Scheme, raised money through ticket sales to support Mr Bhunnoo’s upcoming marathon run.
All proceeds will be donated to Humanity First - a charitable trust established to promote and safeguard the preservation of human life and dignity.
Our students performed beautifully on the night – well done to all involved.
The Raising Aspirations / Enrichment programme allows students to engage in a whole range of activities and opportunities which enhance their skills, knowledge and cultural awareness.
