Students produce impressive artwork
Year 7 have been developing their understanding of the formal elements from last term and applying them to the topic of ‘Pop’ Art. They have specifically been focussed on the wonderfully colourful work of Keith Haring and Roy Lichtenstein and have created some outstanding outcomes.
Year 8 have covered ‘Still Life’ this term with a focus on nature. They are really getting to grips with the importance of drawing from direct observation, a fundamental part of developing ourselves as artists. Year 9 are progressing towards GCSE selection and have been carefully negotiating their way through a Graphic Design project.
Year 10 are establishing technical skills and processes working towards the incredibly important aspect of the four assessment objectives: Develop, Refine, Present and Record.
Year 11 are at a critical stage of the course, working on their independent externally set assignment which is under the theme of fragments, which forms 40% of their overall grade.
Our students have created some outstanding pieces of work!
Please encourage our students and young people to practice and express themselves as much as possible. After all, the world would be a boring place without Art!
